Route Overview

This route centers on Taimu Mountain in Fujian and covers around 40 km with roughly 1,000 m of cumulative climbing. It is a compact but expressive one-day ride that combines mountain gradients, scenic roads, and the distinctive feel of the region’s mountain-and-sea setting.

The route is best suited to riders who already have a basic endurance foundation. By splitting the climbing into manageable sections and building in scenic and recovery stops, it creates a day where participants can complete a fuller mountain ride without turning it into an all-out race effort.

Route Highlights

  • A 40 km route that is not long in distance, but more demanding because of the accumulated climbing.
  • Mountain roads, villages, and scenic stretches combine into a very recognizable regional ride.
  • The pacing remains controllable, making it well suited to clubs, friend groups, and small teams of progressing riders.
  • Supply conditions are relatively complete, allowing multiple rest stops to be planned around the climbing profile.

Schedule

Single-Day Route: Taimu Mountain Ride

  • 07:30–08:00 Meet, check in, and inspect bikes, brakes, shifting, tire pressure, helmets, gloves, and personal supplies.
  • 08:00–10:30 Roll out from the starting base into the warm-up and rolling sections, easing into the day’s climbing rhythm.
  • 10:30–11:30 Stop at a scenic point or supply point for photos, water, and a short recovery break.
  • 11:30–12:30 Continue through the remaining morning section, paying attention to gearing choices and spacing on the climbs.
  • 12:30–13:30 Group lunch with carbohydrate, electrolyte, and bike-condition checks.
  • 13:30–16:30 Complete the second half of the ride, increasing rest frequency when needed based on rider condition.
  • 16:30–17:00 Finish the route, stretch, take group photos, and sign out.

Supplies & Gear

  • This is a single-day route with no overnight stay required.
  • Lunch is arranged through towns or characteristic local dining stops on the route.
  • Because the climbing load is higher, energy gels, bars, salt tablets, electrolyte drinks, and two bottles are recommended.
  • Coastal Fujian weather changes quickly, so lightweight rain gear and sun protection should be carried.

Safety & Support

  • Helmets and gloves are mandatory throughout the route, and traffic rules should be followed strictly.
  • Climbs should be ridden within personal limits, without forcing the pace to hold a wheel. Descents require speed control and brake checks in advance.
  • Professional ride leaders manage route decisions, pace control, and climb sequencing.
  • A support vehicle or mobile support crew is recommended for supplies, dropped riders, punctures, and fatigue management.
