The conference focused on the core needs of trendy Chinese brands in their practical development, with particular attention to concrete and actionable support measures that local governments can provide to enterprises. At the event, the Xuhui District Government gave a detailed interpretation of its 2026 industrial policy, Several Measures to Support the High-Quality Clustered Development of Trendy Chinese Brands. The policy covers five key areas: industrial support, platform empowerment, capital coordination, service保障, and talent support.

Among these, the most direct measure is financial support. Xuhui District proposed providing substantial funding to focus on the industrial chain of trendy Chinese brands, attracting and encouraging enterprises to cluster in the district. At the same time, the policy strongly supports the development of brands’ “first-launch economy,” encouraging cross-border collaborations among trendy Chinese brands, time-honored brands, and well-known IPs, while supporting brands in holding high-profile events such as first launches, debut shows, and first exhibitions.

Beyond direct financial subsidies, Xuhui District is also focused on building a comprehensive business service system. To reduce the early-stage trial-and-error costs for growing consumer brands as they move from products to brands, Xuhui District plans to create “Trendy Chinese Brand Accelerators” in areas such as Hengshan Fang. These accelerators will introduce shared laboratories, testing and certification institutions, and professional service platforms to help enterprises efficiently connect with key resources such as supply chains, capital, channels, and talent.

Leveraging Xuhui’s ecological advantages as an “equity investment cluster,” the government will guide private equity institutions to increase investment in consumer brands and explore the establishment of government-backed consumer investment funds, providing long-term equity support for promising enterprises. At the conference, institutions such as Fengqiao Capital and BA Capital appeared as “Growth Partners for Trendy Chinese Brands,” jointly participating in the development of the industrial ecosystem.

The conference marked an important milestone in Xuhui District’s continued promotion of the “Hundred Trendy Chinese Brands Plan.” Since the plan was launched in April 2025, Xuhui District has set a clear goal of gathering more than 100 Chinese brand enterprises over the next three years. The plan focuses on six major segments: premium food, health and beauty products, fashion bags and apparel, smart technology products, cultural and creative products, and maternal, infant, and pet products. Around brand growth, Xuhui is building a complete industrial ecosystem.

With its economic strength as a central urban district, as well as its rich commercial and cultural spaces such as the Hengshan-Fuxing Historic Conservation Area, Xujiahui commercial district, and West Bund, Xuhui District is gradually becoming a preferred destination for the growth of consumer brands.

The policies introduced by Xuhui District are pragmatic and precise. From financial support and platform building to capital coordination, they form a comprehensive and multi-level empowerment system, providing strong support for trendy Chinese brands to evolve from “products” into “brands” and move from the local market onto a broader international stage.
