Route Overview

Jinjigu Valley lies around 2 km west of Pingle Ancient Town, with dense bamboo, fresh air, canyon scenery, unusual rock formations, boardwalks, suspension bridges, and a strong historic-town atmosphere.

This route begins and ends in Pingle Ancient Town, connecting Jinqiao Bridge, the Xianlü Muyun suspension bridge, Jiuqu boardwalks, an off-grid camping area near Unnamed Peak, and cliffside homes. It works well as a light hiking, camping, and team outdoor experience.

Route Highlights

  • A relaxed itinerary that combines the charm of Pingle Ancient Town with the scenery of Jinjigu Valley.
  • The high suspension bridge offers a dramatic aerial perspective over the canyon.
  • Bamboo groves, boardwalks, and climbing areas make it ideal for team check-ins and nature-focused time outdoors.
  • The Unnamed Peak area can be used for camping, but only under local guide support and clear safety boundaries.

Schedule

Day 1: Pingle Ancient Town – Jinjigu Valley – Suspension Bridge – Unnamed Peak

Meet in Pingle Ancient Town and hike about 2 km into Jinjigu after the route briefing. Follow paved and stone paths into the valley, passing viewpoints, a climbing area, and bamboo sections. After the suspension bridge experience and photo stop, continue through the Jiuqu boardwalk and into the undeveloped area, then camp near Unnamed Peak with a guide.

Day 2: Unnamed Peak – Cliffside Homes – Pingle Ancient Town

Break camp in the morning and descend the same general route, paying attention to wet ground and forest junctions. Pass cliffside homes, rock-wall paintings, and the climbing section, then return to Pingle Ancient Town for lunch, free time, and a group transfer back to Chengdu or dismissal in town.

Accommodation & Supplies

  • Camping gear should include a tent, sleeping bag, pad, headlamp, rain gear, and personal wash kit.
  • Meals can combine self-carried trail food, simple camp cooking, and local meals in Pingle Ancient Town.
  • The Unnamed Peak area has no mobile signal. A local guide is required and solo entry is not allowed.
  • Local specialties such as creamy noodles and regional blood curd dishes can be added before or after the route.

Safety & Support

  • The valley has many side trails, so participants must stay with the leader and local guide.
  • Bamboo and mountain paths can be slippery. Non-slip hiking shoes with ankle support are strongly recommended.
  • Vegetation is dense, so smoking in the wild is prohibited and campfire control must be strict.
  • The suspension bridge experience must follow site rules: no crowding, running, jumping, or climbing over rails.
